RPG Infineon Tom S

Marcos Ambrose and Robbie Gordon starting side-by-side in a road
course race? That should be interesting!!

Winner: The last time Marcos and Robby were at the front in a road
course race, Marcos got punted. It won't happen this time. The
winner will be the dark horse, Marcos Ambrose. It'll be good to see
the Wood Brothers in the Winner's Circle.

1.) I was surprised to learn yesterday that Mikey has finished in the
top 10 in 11 or the 44 road course races he has been in. He will
continue his "streak" and finish in the top 10.

2.) The brothers Laborite put the PEI cars close to the front and
they will keep them there. Bobby and Terry both finish in the top 15.

3.) Ryan Newman is 123 points out of 12th which is too much to make
up in one race, but he will move up at least two spots to 15th when
the dust has settled over Infineon.

4.) Sam Hornish, Jr. is the highest starting "Official" rookie in
17th. He will be the highest finishing official rookie with a top-15
finish.

5.) Dale, Jr. is still feeling high from his win last week and
cruises to a top 10 finish.

Segment one total - +14
Segment two points going in - +3

Several of those were courtesy of pit stop/yellow flag weirdnesses.
Sometimes at the road course the yellow comes out at the wrong time,
and you get a bunch of guys who had been battleing for 30th are
suddenly not only at the front, but half a lap ahead of the fast
guys.

Well it looked pretty good for a while, but then things went to heck
in a hurry. It's goose egg time.

+0 DANG...... Stayed close to the front all day and was definitely in
position to at least make a run at Kyle when he got tagged by Sadler
and busted the tranny. He did the Wood Brothers proud. I hope
someone gives him a couple more rides this year..... and maybe more
next year.

+0 Mikey was never a factor - 25th.

+0 Terry was 17th (not bad for the 45 car) and Bobby was put out late
with mechanical problems.

+0 Shucks!! Well, Ryan did manage to move up to 16th and is now 105
points out of 12th.

+0 Michael McDowell was the highest rook with a 21st place finish.
Sam was 10 spots behind him.

+0 Jr. finished in 12th. He just isn't good on the road courses.

Susposedly the Woods have him slated for a couple more runs.

One thing that did occur to me during the broadcast was that Kyle
Petty seemed well impressed with Ambrose. As far as I know, Ambrose
is not contractually tied to any Cup team. Petty might well give
some thought to putting Ambrose in the #45 - he is probably the
best driver out there that's not a development driver for a Cup
team, and he's certainly better than McCumbee.

Agreed. He seems to have done reasonably well in the races I have
seen him in the other series. I am sure he could/would learn a lot
from Bobby, too.
