Any NHMS Local Resident Expert in here???

Hey Yo'all;

I'm looking for a New Hampshire Motor Speedway Local Resident for a traffic
flow on race week end question...

I have surveyed the area around the track with, "Google Earth, MS Streets &
Trips 07 and my MiO P550 Pocket PC-GPS (which by the way is a P.O.S), and
have found a northern route from the Speedway to Dover NH (which is where we
will be staying in September).
My question is.... Is the traffic going north on the route 106 as heavy as
the traffic going south?
Last year we were parked on the south side of the Speedway and it took us 3
hours (1 of which was to come out of the parking lot onto route 106) to get
back to Dover NH.
So, this September, I am going to park on the North side of the Speedway in
order to escape from the track a little bit faster, unless someone with
local expertise in the traffic flow tells me differently.

Thank you all..........

I'm not a local, but I have been to NHIS many times and have always
parked in the north lots. We never think about trying to leave until 2
hours after the race ends. Even then expect it to take another hour to
get to Belmont/Tilton/Laconia.

I'm hoping Bruton's group can do something (anything!) to help the traffic.

That's the best way...
>From Dover..
go to Rochester...
get on Route 11 to Alton
in Alton take left to get on 140 (country road)
to 106 to track.

I don't have directions but I know of a really good seafood restaurant near
Dover - Newicks ( http :// www .newicks,com /).

Granted, I haven't been there in years and years, but it was known for their
huge servings of fresh seafood. We used to split a seafood platter that was
huge and very yummy!

I remember the Dover location from when I was up there in the early
'70s (I was stationed at Pease AFB). At that time, it was just an old
lobster house with a big gravel parking lot and the sign was just
painted plywood. Served a ton of good seafood on paper plates. We
sat at old wooden tables with oilcloth tacked on them. (((^:

Obviously, it is no longer an airbase, as you are aware,
but I'm sure you had no idea of how big of a tradeport it is now...
It was really quite a transformation...
Most of the stuff that you would remember is gone...
I did a lot of work there, while it was an airbase,
and it's just hard to believe what it is now..
A lot of the stuff I worked on then, is now dust...
Housing... buildings... nearly everything.... gone.

I was the Fuels Officer at Pease from July 1971 until Dec 1972. At
the time, they had KC-135c and had just gotten their FB-111s. We
didn't have a hospital (only a clinic) and used the Portsmouth Naval
Base hospital for any major medical stuff. My daughter was born at
the Naval hospital in Oct 1972, two months before I shipped out for a
year in Korea. We lived in base housing, on White Birch Drive. You
couldn't play a full 18 holes of golf in the spring of after a heavy
rain because the "bottom nine" were so low lying that your drive would
bury itself several inches deep in the middle of the fairway. (((^:

I already told you what I think...
Good luck with your route.
You'll need it....
