I'd like to whack him upside the head a few times,
but he sure is having a "superseason."

He sure is sticking it to HMS.

KyBu: 6 wins (ah--I had predicted 6 wins for
Toyota in their second season--big pat on the
back for me).

Jr.: 1 win.

JJ: 1 win.

Of course, KyBu is sticking it to everybody.
Cousin Carl has Roush's only 3 wins.

I can maybe see why Stewart wants to get away
from Joe Gibbs Racing. That kid can drive! :-O

I'm pretty sure I put the qualifier "at least" in
my RPG. :-P

I feel good about my prediction. I feel bad
that the "foreign" guys are beating us at our
own game. :o(

(Yes, I know how American Toyota is and how
foreign the Big 3 are. We're talking boyhood
feelings here, not anything rational.)

Yeah, it is ironic that KyB is sticking it to HMS. Keeps me laughing. I'm
sure Rick is regretting his decision to let KyB go now.

Yeah he isn't polished like Blunder Boy or his clone, but he sure can drive
the wheels off a car. He makes Jeffy look like a second tier driver.

I would doubt that very much.
It's not all about winning...

The saddest part about that is that it's the truth. NASCAR isn't about
winning any more. :(

I'm sure Dan was thinking of things that are BETTER
than winning--getting rid of a young lad who is hard
to work with and gaining the opportunity to provide
Jr. with a father-figure.

It's the kind of "win" whose value goes beyond
results on the track.

I'm in awe of what Kyle has done at Gibbs. I
understand how Hendrick might think that getting
rid of Kyle and giving Jr. a home was worthwhile,
even in the face of Kyle's championship season.

Since sponsorship $ are the lifeblood of the sport, it made perfect sense to
me what Hendrick did and I'm sure that in spite of Kyle's on track
performance, Rick has no regrets.

While Kyle may be a superb driver, he just does not have the persona that a
sponsor wants. A sponsor/team/driver relationship is more than just
winning.

And on the other side of that coin, it's looking like maybe what Kyle needed
(outside driving) was a Papa Joe coach, not a Rick daddy-figure........

After all those football players.....and Tony.....and Denny.....Joe's
probably the best one out there at reining in the rowdy....and the Rowdy. :)

Except that it's mostly been Gibbs junior, not the coach.

Yeah, but it's seemed like any time they've gotten out of hand and needed a
talking to, there was Papa Joe turning up......

Oh, you're absolutely right. It was actually a "Win, win" situation for
everyone. It's just that when I read that sentence, I thought about how
(taken out of context) that was pretty much true of NASCAR in general.
NASCAR itself has become less about putting on a good race than about
putting on a show. Not necessarily the teams, per se, but overall
product. It's not about the race; it's about the SHOW.

And Jeffy made Dale Sr. look second tier too.
So what's your point?
