Sorry about the delayed reply. Just checked following site and
see that humidity up at noon, but the temperature looks a lot
more bearable.

Same here, but not cheap to run, usually get by with fans.

Don't drink it that often myself. Overtaxed. When I came to Oz
a NSW schooner was around 15 or 20 US cents from memory.
From yesterdays temperatures, cold or iced water would have been
good. Like you, I prefer cool or cold coffee or tea.
Iced tea pretty popular in the USA, but some Aussies shudder at
the thought. :-)

If you are wondering why I asked, dogs often suffer from the heat
and don't mind the cold spray from a hose. Cats generally don't,
but once had a neighbor whose cat would jump in the swimming pool
and swim around to cool off. Only cat I've ever seen that would
do this, though. Was flatly amazed at it.
More intelligent than the average cat, perhaps? Oh well, both
humans and pets have individual likes and dislikes. Had video
cameras been common at the time, would have been worth submitting
to the T.V. series "Funniest Home Videos"! :-)

Here, I would have to disagree with you. Check on what is
happening to the arctic icecap, for example.
Of course, global warming or cooling based on "average"
temperatures is a bit misleading. During the last "ice age" the
present site of Chicago, Illinois was covered with around 1.6 km
or ~ a mile of ice.
In Europe, ice extended down to the North side of the
Mediterranean Sea.
Yet the "average" global temperature is thought to be only 2 or 3
degrees C. lower than it is now.
Obviously, all that snow and ice had to come from somewhere, so
other parts of the world might well have been warmer than usual.
Still, all this is based on scientific conjecture, as no weather
stations around at the time. :-) Or, for that matter, perhaps no
humans around to man them. :-)

Pretty quiet Christmas here, as no kids. [By choice,
incidentally.] Wife & I both consider one of our wiser
decisions, and rates as highly. maybe higher, than our decision
to migrate to Australia.
If you have read many of my posts, you will know that both my
wife & I tend to be "realists" rather than "optimists" :-)
In passing, haven't seen any new posts on this group or the
immigration group other than the lone post from "Cath" last
night.
At the last time I checked, anyway. Am doing other tasks at the
moment, so just checking computer periodically.
Still, the lack of posts from the USA does seem a bit odd,
considering that they don't have a "Boxing Day" holiday there.
A recent landslide in Oregon took out our major link to the USA,
and they were rerouting through a link in California.
Have you heard of any difficulties with the Transpacific link? My
ISP hasn't reported any difficulties. Still, they don't always
do so.
After all, the US network may be pretty choked at the moment,
considering that a lot of kids may have got computers as
Christmas presents.
Same would apply here in Oz of course, but we have a much lower
population.
If you are online at the moment, and reading this, I would
appreciate a quick acknowledgement of receipt of this and
previous posts, even if you only send the words "Have rec'd
same". :-)
Would be even more interested if you have had problems accessing
your usual U.S. groups.
I really would have expected a reply earlier from "Cath", if no
others.
Not like her to miss a chance of criticizing one or more of my
posts! :-)
Anyway, glad to see that weather conditions in Perth have eased
today.
Cheers,
