Tonga recommendations?

Tonga recommendations?

I'm thinking of a trip to Tonga in February. From L.A., air travel seems
restricted to Air New Zealand, unless I want to spent forty hours en route.

Mainly I'm interested in recommendations for hotels. I've seen some pretty
bad reviews for some of them, but not a lot of favorable reviews. Must be
someplace decent to stay there, no?

Air NZ is an excellent airline.

I stayed here for a couple of nights at big Momma's last year was ok
We had a duuble Fale (native hut) it has a double bed no power but you get a
couple of kero lamps Good double bed and a cold shower water was warm enough
for shower but not first thing in the morning and it is about 10 meters from
the shore line for about $A55 a night.
They did a pick up from the airport which is 1/2 hour out of Nuku'alofa for
about $A6 at about midnight when my cheap Virgin flight from Australia came
in.
We also spent a night at Misa's Guest house in Nuku'alofa Do not go there
not good!

I don't know anything about Tonga, but $55 a night for a room without
electricity (and hence no aircon), no hot water, and kero lamps does not
strike me as great value anywhere ..

Re: Tonga recommendations?

Some times you have to be there and try different things!
