Internet Cafe Survey

I have been an Internet Consultant since 1995, and in 1996 I thought
of a name for an Internet Cafe which I wrote on a piece of paper and
posted to myself, I found the letter the other week after 12 years and
I am now in the process of setting up an Internet Cafe in a cafe in my
hometown, my goal is to have one such Internet Cafe in every Capital
City in the world

I would just like to know how often you use Internet Cafes when
travelling?

and how much is charged, and whether you think that the current
charges are fair?

Thanks in advance

Re: Internet Cafe Survey

Use: Once a week or so.

Charge: Varies. In Sri Lanka I paid 1 rupee (SLR) per minute at one place.
I've paid up to 6 Euros an hour in Ireland.

Obviously the charge varies according to the general Cost of Living in the
area - and the demand for the service.

Last Sept/Oct in the US I didn't use an internet cafe at all throughout a 7
week driviing holiday - because wifi was available almost everywhere.

Thank you
do you agree that it would be better to have a membership card giving
you say 30% off your hourly access charge that would still differ from
place to place, but in most cities and towns, you would have a choice
of Internet Cafe and could easily identify with your membership card a
30% saving?

Regards,
Damian

Re: Internet Cafe Survey

Damian - such a card would only be valid at an upmarket (read very
expensive) internet cafe in the kinds of places in which I use Internet
cafes. In South and South-East Asia there is already a plethora of small,
very cheap
internet cafes.

Frankly - I doubt I'd use it. I took my laptop to the USA because I knew
wi-fi was readily available there. Same in South Korea; and in Japan. When I
travel at home - Australia - I take my laptop.

Cheers

Re: Internet Cafe Survey

I am to frugal to pay for Internet Cafe usage when I travel.
My itineraries always include the homes of friends or the
facilities of Uni's. If you are in the States and have the
misfortune of being in Purgatory (aka Maryland), feel free
to use my home as your Internet Cafe.
