CHARTER & FAQ OF USENET'S rec.travel.australia+nz - this is NOT a Google Group...

Note: This is **NOT** a Google Group.
If you are using Google as your host, then please ensure you read the below very carefully as all
postings originating from Google that are not relevant to this newsgroup and/or are commerical
postings, are reported as spam not only to Google but to your ISP.

THIS IS A ***USENET*** NEWSGROUP.

CHARTER/FAQ rec.travel.australia+nz
As adopted by public vote.

This FAQ currently contains:
-Posting Guidelines
-Tips on how to get the best results to your questions
-Travel Mailing Lists
-Internet Cafes in Australia
-The original RFD for this group containing the Rationale and Charter
(please check the "Charter" if you aren't sure if this is an
appropriate group for your message).

POSTING GUIDELINES
This newsgroup IS for discussion on accommodation, trains, planes,
interesting routes, sights to see and festivals or events in Australia
and New Zealand. It should NOT include discussion on how Australia is
governed, or what the economic growth of Australia is, or other

is more appropriate for the existing group soc.culture.australian, or
soc.culture.new-zealand). For discussion on travelling in Asia use:
rec.travel.asia.

ALL advertising is inappropriate and should be directed to the group
rec.travel.marketplace.

TIPS:
If you are planning a holiday and want advice, it helps to:

you're discussing
-give an indication of your daily budget (preferably in OZ/NZ dollars,
otherwise state the currency e.g. USD)
-state how long you want to come for
-state what you are interested in (e.g. beaches, bushwalking, cycling,
art, cities, historic buildings etc)
-state when you are coming (which dates or months)
-state what kind of accommodation you'd like e.g. guesthouses or B&B's
(where you can meet the people), or hotels/motels/resorts.

mailing lists dedicated to travel. Some of the major ones are:

differing ways, so send mail to the addresses shown, and you'll
probably be sent instructions on how to subscribe.

The spammers will take about as much notice of the charter as the tides did

Well, if you had pointed to the part which - in some rather twisted
way - could be considered netcopping, you might have had a point, since
you didn't, you haven't.

Cath,

Something to take your mind out of the fog....

"What is the Internet?

The Internet today is a large-scale network of millions of computers
that allows continuous communication across the globe. The various
applications of the Internet are:

* The World-Wide Web (the web or www )
* Electronic Mail (E-Mail)
* File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
* Internet Relay chat (IRC)
* USENET (a news service)"

Just a small quote from:-

http :// www .yourhtmlsource,com /starthere/historyofthenet.html

Makes interesting reading......

Why I can remember way back when the usenet portion of the Internet
was just showing its face.

Knew a chap who worked at a university, and he had great delight in
showing us reams of paper, which had been transmitted ONE (1) letter
per page, as part of a message.

Now back to today, "Usenet" is still a part of the internet.

Meaning "interconnected"

It just so happens that for most the only part they see is the www
secton of the "Internet"

Hope you have a nice day..

no articles written by you....

You do *not* need the internet to connect to Usenet.
You may need an ISP who 'takes' a feed
If you use Google Groups then yes, I believe you would indeed need to connect to the internet to
access Usesnet.
Many isp's do not take Usenet in which case you either have to pay a news-service/server or use Free
Agent [free or paid version].

Why should I be writing?
But wait, why am I not surprised at what you just wrote?
Afterall, when one checks your posting history, the majority of posts are one line smart arsed
postings.

Now, seeing you are in such a mood to research, what does BBS or RFD or CFD mean to you - the latter
two are Usenet 'terms'.

I still don' think you have a real clue as to what is Usenet!

Cath

SO where have you been Frank ??

Have'nt seen your name here for a while, been sick have we ??

There was no specific part that was as you call it, "netcopping", just
that her constant posts are a pain in the proverbial.

And Cath, So how does "usenet" work then if not over the internet ??

Thanks for asking, and thanks for *noticing*! :-)

> Have'nt seen your name here for a while, been sick have we ??

Quite the contrary, we've been in Oz, our seventh-in-a-lifetime trip,
this time 'only' to/in QLD and NSW. We had a great time, not that that
should be much of a surprise.

After our trip there's not been much interesting stuff in the group
and nobody to slap around :-), hence I've been quiet.

> There was no specific part that was as you call it, "netcopping", just
> that her constant posts are a pain in the proverbial.

Well, it's quite common to post Charters or/and FAQ on a regular
basis, that's the whole point of them. But perhaps posting them under
some kind of adminstrative name would tie them less to a person and more
to the group and cause less people to get their knickers in a knot. Just
an idea.

> And Cath, So how does "usenet" work then if not over the internet ??

You kids wouldn't know, would you? :-) Usenet *predates* the Internet,
so Usenet doesn't need the Internet, but can work over *any* medium/
transport. It just 'happens' that these days nearly all Usenet transport
is over the Internet.

Not that any of this is at all relevant, but since a particular
hopping creature is already absent for quite a while, you guys might no
longer feel at home here, hence this whine from somebody *else*. We aim
to please! :-)
