OT: ear worm of the week

This song has been running thru my mind for about a week...

I saw an episode of "Family Guy" recently -- I think it was "No Meals on
Wheels" -- and there was a scene (unrelated to the main plot) where
Peter and Lois were sitting on the couch and Peter turns on the TV. He
says "Oh, look, it's one of those early Maude episodes with the really
long opening credit sequence." Then "And then There's Maude" goes on
and on for 8 or 9 made-up verses while Peter gets increasingly
irritated. It was one of those meta-jokes that is funny because it is
so not-funny.

I had the stupid Maude theme song running through my head for several
days after that. The long silly one. And I never particularly /liked/
(or disliked) "Maude".

I wonder how many of the folks watching "Family Guy" were too young to
even know what it was talking about?

Interestingly Family Guy tends to hit the 25-45 demographic really well.
So there's something in it for everyone.

My particular faves are when they make fun of God or Jesus.

I didn't watch for the first years it was on. I didn't like the animation
style. After watching one complete episode, though, I was hooked. I'm
especially intrigued by the writter/producers love of old musicals, Road
pictures, and other obscure movie trivia. These guys are definitely old
movie buffs.

I've also noticed there are two versions. The censored and not so censored.
Seems to be no rhyme or reason as to which one or the other pops up on any
given network/cable chnl.

I quite like TMBG. They're offbeat enough for my tastes.

One of the few songs TMBG didn't pen.

"Her name was Lola..."

OBFood: I'm going to make bread this weekend. Last time I bought a
loaf here in Cow Hill I couldn't find anything that didn't contain
high fructose corn syrup.

My karate is no match for your kung fu.

OBFood: Ersatz Greek salad at a local eatery for dinner. Takeout
cannoli await in my kitchen. And since we buy a pitcher of beer for
the guys in the restaurant kitchen once in a while, they do it up nice
for us when we drop in. The complementary bread tonight at our table
was more like bruschetta.
