What a thoughtful child you have, as evidenced by the mother's day
gift she gave you that you talked about with NPR's Weekend Edition.

Especially the part about the hangover....

Nice hearing you.

Hey! I listen to NPR/MPR 24/7. Don't OWN a TV. When the heck were you
on, Barb?

:-) It took 20 minutes to get those 30 seconds or whatever she used.
:-) I'll go up in a week and a half for our annual Mother's Day Girls
Only, Boys Not Welcome outing to The Big Lake (the Superior Lake). We
throw stones into the lake, walk the boardwalk, Do Lunch in Canal Park,
then drive up London Road to the PortLand Malt Shop for an ice cream
treat. And I'll be doing it in my new car. Woo-hoo! We hope the
weather will be as good as the company.

Go to the link below. In the pink section, upper right, click on This
Week's Show. Scroll down to see a pic of me and my girls. Click on the
link and there's an audio available. The podcast (from the iTunes
store) doesn't have the Mother's Day stuff. I thought it would.
(Aren't we cute? That was last year's Mother's Day celebration at "the
big lake.")

Very cool daughter. She worked with throw-away kids long enough to
appreciate us. And she's not been embarrassed to tell us more than a
couple times. :-) We're lucky to have each other.

Thanks. (Aren't we cute?) That year I'd just returned from the Seattle
cook-in at Alan Zelt and Kaari's home and a couple days later we had
water in the basement. Not much, but it was everywhere. Everywhere.
We wound up emptying the basement into the garage for the whole damned
summer --- but that's a different story. We mopped (thinking we could
stop it) and gave up at about 2:30 a.m. Rob called the kids to see if
they could come down to help. Beck showed up on our doorstep at 6:00
a.m. (a 2-1/2 hour drive) to help. We hadn't been together on Mother's
Day and she brought a gift with her. When we finally figured out a plan
and got Rob back from the doc (caustic burns on his hands from patching
cement that didn't work -- in his haste he forgot about gloves, I guess)
she gave it to me and we sat on the steps and went through them all.
Me? I was a bucket of tears. I couldn't imagine dredging through my
mind to come up with all those remembrances. Holy crap! I didn't
remember some of the things she had on those slips of paper. Treasure
it? I do. I do.

OB Food: I'm not cooking supper.

So very! That Sam, she's too pretty.

Any water in the basement is way too much.

I think it's an engineer thing.

That was a fabulous gift, and what a setting. Heh.

OB Food: I bought another pork shoulder, this time 89 cents a pound!
Have no idea what I'll go with it.

Wow, I am speechless--truly.

What an amazing gift for a child to give to a parent (makes me want to do
something similar for my mom). That Becky is a real keeper! ;)

She is that, Mary. She said it was hard to get started but once she
did, it became easier. Look at old pictures to jog your thoughts. And
better you let your mom know now than when you're standing over her
casket.
