Thanks. (Aren't we cute?) That year I'd just returned from the Seattle
cook-in at Alan Zelt and Kaari's home and a couple days later we had
water in the basement. Not much, but it was everywhere. Everywhere.
We wound up emptying the basement into the garage for the whole damned
summer --- but that's a different story. We mopped (thinking we could
stop it) and gave up at about 2:30 a.m. Rob called the kids to see if
they could come down to help. Beck showed up on our doorstep at 6:00
a.m. (a 2-1/2 hour drive) to help. We hadn't been together on Mother's
Day and she brought a gift with her. When we finally figured out a plan
and got Rob back from the doc (caustic burns on his hands from patching
cement that didn't work -- in his haste he forgot about gloves, I guess)
she gave it to me and we sat on the steps and went through them all.
Me? I was a bucket of tears. I couldn't imagine dredging through my
mind to come up with all those remembrances. Holy crap! I didn't
remember some of the things she had on those slips of paper. Treasure
it? I do. I do.
OB Food: I'm not cooking supper.
