Ping: All You Wonderful Mothers in RFC

I wish each and every one of you the happiest of Mother's Days!

I hope you will all be able to celebrate it in the company of your children,
if not in person, at least in spirit, and have a joyous occasion!

And on behalf of all us test tube babies, I'd like to extend the same

As a Mama a world of Thanks. But I join you in wishing such a day to all the
others. I am lucky that this year I will spend M.Day with two of my three
kidlets as my SS is with his Mom. But, I will be with my Mama and all my
siblings. Can't ask for more than that.

Indeed it is. And we have opted for Hamburgers and Hot Dogs for family lunch
so that no one will be spending all day in the kitchen and we can spend more
time visiting.

Mom passed away in 1990. She was a special education teacher, and a gourmet
cook.

My Mom passed away in 1998. She was a talented artisan and also a gourmet
cook. After ten years, it is still hard to believe she's gone.

My mother could kick all your mother's asses. Go. Mom.

AND she was beautiful and brilliant and made unconditional love look easy.

That must have been very traumatic for your husband, Barbara. I can't
imagine losing a parent when so young. I think we expect that they'll live
forever. My mother died in 1998 this past March 31st at the age of 84.
She shared a home with David and me for about the last 5-1/2 years of her
life. I'll be forever grateful for that time spent together.

I lost my mom in 2004. She was one of seven sisters who, except for one,
were all gourmet cooks.

I often think of my mom when making something she taught me or one or
the other of my aunts when preparing a dish I learned from them.

Texas Janet, thousands of miles from her children who managed to phone
toady.

My mom was the oldest of two sisters and a brother and the last to pass
away, in 1998. She was the only gourmet cook and baker of the lot.

I do the same. I could never enumerate all the things she taught me. She
had many of her recipes written down, but those she didn't I transcribed
through discussions with her. I think I have everything.

Obviously your children think of you dearly. Perhaps time to begin
planning a big old-fashioned family reunion.

Thanks, Wayne. I am planning to go north in August for a week. I'd love
to have all of them down here but we just don't have the space for all
of them at the same time.

Reading this thread there seems to be a recurring theme. All these
people that like eating and cooking had mothers that cooked very well.
Did you spend time in the kitchen with your mother?

My youngest sone spent a lot of time in the kitchen with me and also
with my mother, even from very small there is something you can teach
them to do. He went on to become a chef.

My grandsons (8 & 9) live with us and spend time in the kitchen with
me. One is keener than the other, but they both do not mind doing the
drudge work like peeling spuds. They like to have a job to do, not
just watch.
