gshimirda matzah

I must be misspelling this, because google searches come up with nothing.
Can someone correct my spelling of this traditional item? Providing a recipe
would be even better!

Many thanks.

Shouldn't have replied so fast -- found another recipe, closer to what I
remember, with a different spelling, here:

Greatgreatgreat... well, orthography/spelling is going to vary since
it's a non-Latin alphabet.

Hi Claire,

Here is a recipe for Geshmeerte Matzo which I found today for Pesach.

Source: An old woman who ran a kosher dairy with her husband here in
Cincinnati
Serves: 8

1 jar smooth cream cheese
2 eggs
1/4 cup sugar
Cinnamon
2 matzos

Spread the above mixture on whole matzos.

Sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.

Bake on cookie sheet at 350°F for 20 minutes, until firm. Cool on rack
and cut into serving pieces (4 per matzo).

Poster's Notes:
It is hard to find the dry cottage cheese, so I used two small
packages of farmer's cheese.

Kind regards,

Mark Goldberg - South Africa

What is the amount of a jar of cream cheese? It comes in wrapped blocks,
not jars here.

"geshmeered" is Yiddish for *smeared*. Something (shmaltz ?? something
sweet???] is smeared over matza.
