From what I understand the plant requires very specific soil conditions
and climate. That doesn't mean that you *can't* I should think, however
you would have to find an area with a close enough match for the plants
to thrive. What those conditions are I cannot say with specificity, but
I would start your research with the following links as starting points:

good luck!

Re: Rooibos

I doubt it, unless India has an exact growing condition for rooibos as
in Cederberg. When I visited the botanical gardens in Capetown, we
were lucky 2 have the director with us & I asked if he could point out
a rooibos plant 2 us at the garden. His reply was that there wasn't,
as the plant could not grow anywhere else except in Cederberg
mountains. Attempts were made 2 cultivate the plant in Capetown &
elsewhere, but they all failed.

It would be great if India could cultivate rooibos too...

All the best!

Re: Rooibos

Given human ingenuity and injection of a little cash you can grow
anything anywhere. While with Unilever Research I successfully grew a
few plants of Rooibos to maturity in a greenhouse in Bedford, UK, not
exactly Cederburg Western Cape conditions. Albeit this was 30 years
ago but the problem we had was getting hold of seed - its export from
South Africa was forbidden and we had to resort to a few grams stolen
and smuggled out in a sock.
