Tea in Tianjin

Hi,

A friend of mine will be working in Tianjin in the next couple of months.
Can you recommend him some good places for buying teas?

Thanks,
Gyorgy

What kind of tea is he looking for?

If he's going to be in Tianjin for a while, how about a day trip to
Beijing to Maliandao? It's only a short trip away, an hour on the
train at most. If there are trains that go from Tianjin to Beijing
West Station (not Beijing Station), he can easily get from the West
Station to Maliandao just by walking for about 10 minutes. If he
needs directions, ask him to email me so I can give him that info.
Most of Tianjin's tea stores get their goods from Maliandao, as that's
the main wholesale market there, so prices in Maliandao will be lower
than those in Tianjin anyway.

It would help if he speaks Chinese, but if not, I can refer him to a
friend or two in Beijing who can probably help him with Maliandao.

I have seen decent puerh selection from one Tianjin store online
through Taobao, but I don't know where they're located. Again,
though, it's just one store, and when he's that close to a major tea
market, a trip to Beijing isn't that much work.
