hand - dishwashing problem

Help? :-/
While hand-washing a French White-type Corning Ware ceramic cooking
dish I filled it with water and now the glass cover is stuck to the
dish! To make matters worse, there is a smaller ceramic bowl inside the
corning ware dish, about a 1/3rd size of the corning ware dish. The
cover is on inside out, so there is a little stub of a handle to pull
that has not helped me at all. I've filled the sink with water, hoping
to float the cover off the dish, but that hasn't worked either What
should I do? I don't want to break the dishes or glass cover to clean
them!

Pour boiling water over the whole assembly. Shouldn't take very long.
Enough expansion should take place due to the heat to allow the parts
to break free.

Since it's Corning Ware, you could probably heat it directly on the
stove and achieve the same thing, but try the hot water first. You may
not even need boiling water--hot water out of the tap might be enough.

If you ever get glasses stuck by inadvertantly nesting them, this same
trick works.

It has water inside? put it on the stove and heat. once water starts to
simmer and give off steam, no more suction. Cover lift off.

Caution - putting it on the stove is okay if the stuff is the original
Corning pyroceram - but the new ones are made offshore, are stoneware,
and should NOT be heated on a stovetop.

Corningware is no longer made in Corning NY by American citizens and the
quality of the product is questionable, why doesn't that surprise me?
