I need a new home deep fryer .......
I could use help picking the right one.

A little more guidance from you might be helpful. For example, what
have you been using to date; what, how much and how often do you usually
deep fry; etc.?

I don't do much deep frying, so a little Presto Fry Daddy is perfect for
me. It has one control (the power plug) so there's nothing to fiddle
with, it doesn't take up much counter or cabinet space, it doesn't need
much oil to do its thing, and it does a fine job. Except for that last
attribute, any or all the others may be exactly what you're *not*
looking for in a deep fryer.

This is the fourth fryer I have bought and the one I am keeping after
almost two years of use. I have not liked any of the closed "hot
pot" looking ones especially the ones with the rotating interior.

As a side note, some models within this brand come with electronic
timers. Deep frying is so variable depending on type of coating and
size of pieces that a timer is useless.

I even have given the se as gifts.
