I saw your posting inquiring about the mandolin at Costco for around
$50 -- I was looking at one at Costco online, and price of $54.95
(including shipping).

Yesterday while shopping at a different Costco than I normally go to I
saw the same brand mandolin for $39.95. There was no Model Number on
the outside of the box.

When I opened the box, I saw that it is a different model from the one
on-line. The model online has TWO built-in julienne cutters total,
whereas none of the FOUR julienne cutters are built in on the $39.95
model.

It depends on which you want more, I suppose. (I'm happy with the
four cutters.)

My old mandolin is a plastic cheapie maybe 30 years old, so I'm happy
to have a new one for less than $199.99.

Dee,

I've got the "As seen on TV" cheap-o plastic mandoline with the extra-
cheap-o extras from the early 1990s infomercial.

Except for the cutout blade slots having warped slightly, after a few
tries, the chosen row of blades rotate correctly into place and are still
wicked sharp.

It still works as advertised.

Andy, I don't think mine could've been more than $15 when I got it.
The blades are all still sharp, too and works, but at my age, I like
almost anything new and shiny. My old one will go to Salvation Army -
with box and instructions, which I have kept neatly intact - I used it
more when I lived in Hawaii where I used to cook Asian food more than
I do now. This new one doesn't have a nice box to keep it when when
not being used. It will have to gather dust when not being used.
