I don't think that anybody posted such a thing recently. There was,
apparently, something in a Peter Reinhart book about a pineapple
starter. You have to watch out for book writers. They will say all
kinds of stuff to fill their pages.
The best way to get a starter is to send out for it, to a reliable
source. My recommendation is =
< * w w w .yankeegrocery . com /sourdough%5Fbread.html> .
It costs less than 4 bucks. If you do it that way, you can give a =
moment's
peace to Charles Perry, who is inundated with SASE's requesting Carl's
starter on account of blogs advertising feebies. Also, Yankee Grocery =
is
very fast, compared to <w w w .carlsfriends.org> which is, among other
delays, slowing down to process your order when it comes in, and costs
two first-class stamps, and a buck if you are generous.
