Sourdough Dog Biscuits

My dog begs for the crust of my sourdough bread but not non-soughdough bread
crusts. I think ther must be something in sourdough she likes. Since I am
always looking for ways of using extra starter, I was thinking that homemade
sourdough dog biscuits might be something I could make. Anyone have a
recipe for sourdough dog biscuit?

My dogs also love my bread! They are very happy when I have some that
does not get eaten.
Here is my dog biscuit recipe:
1 lb 8 oz white starter
12 oz whole wheat flour
8 oz all purpose flour
1/2 cup raw wheat germ
3 oz yellow cornmeal or brewers yeast
1 t salt
1/2 cup safflower oil (I have used just plain veg)
1/4 cup coarsely chopped fresh mint
1 egg (for a wash)

Mix and knead. then wrap in plastic wrap for rest at room temp for 2
hours
roll out to a 1/3 inch thick. Cut
brush tops with egg and bake 30 min. turn off oven and let sit another
15 to dry out.

Re: Sourdough Dog Biscuits

Thanks for the recipe for dog biscuits. As soon as my mint gets big
enough to harvest, probalby in two or three weeks, I'm going to bake up
a batch. (It's only a couple of inches high out here in Western
Washington right now; but it grows fast!) I hope my dog likes them!
They will be one heckuva lot less expensive than the Nutro "Dental"
"cookies" she's eating now!

Re: Sourdough Dog Biscuits

What temperature do you use to bake the biscuits?

Howdy,

Since there are billions of yeast & LB cells in every gram,
you might just consider keeping less...

All the best,
