Dynamic range of LPs

My recollection is that the dynamic range of conventional LPs tops out
around 70 dB, but that a couple of exotic varieties can go higher:
direct-to-disk, and 45-rpm LPs. How much higher?

The only way to contrive that the dynamic range of a LP is even just 70 dB,
is to reduce the measurement bandwidth to less than the audible range (20
Hz-20 kHz), and accept audible amounts of nonlinear distortion (>0.1%).

I ask because like Sonnova in the new Cables thread, I've been reading
about the new Blue Note 45 rpm reissues, and was wondering what
advantages the higher speed brings. (Personally, I'm very happy with
my old Blue Note 33s.)
