Computer recording from analogue sources?

Hi everybody,
I just been working on my new computer, and it seems that my computer
components manufacturers thought of everything except recording of analogue
audio sources (in my case, a walkman). I'd like to burn an mp3 cd with lots
of russian music tapes. I am using the audio card line in audio. I can hear
the music through my computer speakers alright. I tried the obvious win xp
audio recording which is only for 20 seconds... I have win xp greek, core 2
duo 2.66, ! GB ram, 320 GB Hitachi sata and 512 MB asus 2600 ati pro and
intel DG31PR mobo. I searched all cds that accompanied each specific
components, they have programms that even let me use a cd-r as ram, but
nothing about recording analogue audio sources:-( Maybe they think the task
is unworthy for the computer? I can pay, let's say, 30 euros for a good
application, I'd rather have one that someone else has tried and is virus
and trojan horse free 0-:
TIA,

You are welcome.
I do some analogue recording myself and have found the *Normalize' effect to
be very useful. Evens out the volume of different recordings.
