That's a different story. If there are still wires coming out of the
case, no matter how short, you can repair this, assuming that the
transformer still works. Maybe it's really faulty and someone tried to
remove it in a clumsy way. I can't imagine any other reason why it
should be damaged like that. If you can get to the secondary conductors
(you may have to take the transformer out of the chassis if you haven't
already done so) you can check the secondary windings with an ohm meter.
This is curious. Can you take a photo of the transformer and post it
somewhere?
