HELP needed with NAKAMICHI CR-7A

I just bought a NAKAMICHI CR-7A cassette recorder and it seems to have
problems.

1) When I power it up there no lights on the VU screen panel.
2) When I put a tape in & press PLAY or FF there is some minor
movement but then nothing.
3) When I turn the OUTPUT volumn to Maximum I get buzzing. When I turn
it halfway I get motorboating.

Any help is appreciated.

With that wide variety of symptoms, I would first look at some
commonalities such as the power supply, etc.

Mtoro movement or just the tape jumping because you are moving the transport
into the cassette?
