nicking Foil on a power transformer

I nicked the 1 inch gold foil strip that runs down one side
of a brand new PT .. Have I done any damage ?

I ohmed various pri/sec leads coming on the xformer
and I didn't find any that connected to it.

** It ain't gold - it's copper.

** Only cosmetic.

** It is there as a magnetic shunt - ie it reduces the hum field near the
tranny.

It is a shorted turn wound *around* a transformer in the same orientation
as the windings, but always remaining outside the lamination stack.

No, it won't be a problem. It's there to reduce the hum field and
alittle nick won't matter.
