Yes of course, Keith, it's dead simple with an Op-Amp
a handful of Cs and Rs and a couple of batteries.

It is definitely going to affect the sound if you just
"hang the meter across the line" as they used to
do in the good old days !!

I like to work with tubes, and the generic cathode follower
board which I have fits the bill perfectly.
