Getting in a fist fight with a cager, with a helmet on.

Getting in a fist fight with a cager, with a helmet on.

I've seen it. Been threatened wearing one.
I think Macy had one on in a "Wild Hogs" fistfight. Pretty stupid for a
cager, smart for a rider.
So, don't remove your helmet if a cager wants to punch you out.

Shouldn't you take it off anyway, to make sure you didn't
accidentally head butt him in the nose after he took the
first swing ?

I'd take it off -- so I could use it to beat the cager to death. Mmmm,
bloody.

In such a fight, your helmet is a damn good weapon. Leathers and
gloves tend to help as well.

Especially with that nice CE armor at the knuckles and
elbows :-)

Absolutely, I've left a knuckle armour imprint on someone's face
before.

There isn't a single pair of motorcycle gloves made that carry the CE marker
because none have ever been tested for the purpose of protecting a
motorcylisists hands. So once again, pj fucks up.

So what happens if you punch someone while wearing gloves with those silly
fake carbon fiber inserts?

Does it pad the blow, or split and cut you?

Uh, *I* have personally tested a pair of "Alpine GP Plus" motorcycle gloves
that are -at least in theory- armored with Carbon Fiber, and can attest to
both their strength and protective abilities in falls ranging up to 60 MPH
or so. (And I'm still using those same gloves; scuff-marks and all.)

I sure as hell wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of a quick jab to
the mouth with that knuckle armor, no matter *what* it's actually made of.

Ya' know, if some cager got a hold of your helmet's bottom with both hands
from behind (maybe in front too), he could just about bust your neck - or
lead you around the parking lot like a dog. The neck strap could keep you
tied in pretty nice. Them grab rails on the helmet's bottom could serve out
some mighty bad leverage and twist your head clean off.

If you don't get a chance to use it as a weapon first, it might work against
you.
