Road Rage.....

Road Rage.....

Just when I thought I was a better person than the 'road ragers', I join
them!.....

I was just coming back from town after picking up some paint-ball gun
spares and got caught in a traffic snarl up. There were cops cruising
around so I didn't do the usual 'sod the yellow lines and pass
everything' trick. There had been a green car tailgating me so I had
dropped back a bit from the car in front to give myself a bit more room.
I looked in the mirror, and the green car was gone! By the time I did a
double take it was right alongside me on the inside.....with an elderly
lady hunched up over the steering wheel looking straight ahead. Bing!
Instant road rage.....I smacked the drivers window to get her attention
(and that of her passenger) which was a mistake. As I was 'just going to
town' I hadn't bothered to 'suit up' so I wasn't wearing my gloves and
car windows are hard!
Once I had her attention, I pointed to the part of the road she should
be on (with my middle finger of course). She freaked and jumped on the
brakes nearly getting rear ended in the process....I honestly don't
think she saw me as she was passing me on the inside. The guy in the
Mini in front of me must have been watching as he gave me a thumbs up
from his window.

So, she was totally in the wrong but I fucked up by 1. Not wearing my
gear...2. Hitting her window! What was I thinking....she could just as
easily have swerved into me instead of braking (shudder). and 3. Not
just passing everyone like I would usually do.....sod the cops.

I tell you the problem. You had stock pipes. She couldn't hear you.

Loud Pipes Save lives!

If you had been running straight pipes...

Ping RGD.

See, an anecdote, a personal experience. Loud pipes don't work. Hmmmm.

A logical fallacy perhaps.

LOL....judging by the age of the driver, there's a good chance she was
deaf as well as blind!

I like pipes that make music, not noise.....the gutted Supertrap sounds
wicked when the power is on and crackles and pops on the over run. The
Aprilia has a TigCraft titanium race system which is borderline
offensive to many, but sounds just right to me.....I'm dreading the day
the cops get decibel meters around here.

Tell me more about "Supertrap" mufflers. I think they're ugly, but I hear
they work well. I'll need an upgraded muffler on my Uly, as it sounds like a
Volkswagen. Something that will let the Buell sound out without breaking
windows, that I can use off road, as well.

Just this morning on my way to work, a guy was at a stop sign. I was
on the main road.

As I approached, he and I made eye contact; he actually turned his
head left and looked right at me (or possibly through me). .

I suspected that the guy didn't actually see me, though we locked
eyes, so I started slowing down and looking for an escape route. The
guy just had a blank stare about him.

Sure enough, I saw his wheels start to turn and him starting out. I
pressed the horn, which caught his attention. He stopped before he
made it into the street.

I guess my point is, cagers may not see us even when they see us; so I
agree with you - anything we do in retlaiation might shock them into a
bad action.

I'm glad you made it out OK.

Greg

A cager's "blank stare", a good thing to watch out for.

Wow ! THERE's an idea !

Rig your ride with camera flash units at every angle !
Anytime someone pisses you off, ESPECIALLY at night - STROBE THEM !

Cool !

Thumper's got it: hit 'em with your high beams.

Better an annoyed casger than one who doesn't know you're there.

Better to BEAT them then to join them.

Oh, I just couldn't resist that.

Anyway, I have to really restrain myself, on a regular basis, from commiting
myself to retribution whilst riding. When I was younger I used to challenge
cagers. After a couple of them tried to kill me and have me arrested, I
stopped.
