I am using a xt 400 for my go-cart-what I need to know is why do they
have the extra tank in the frame-I have a suction and return line
that
pumps oil from frame -back to the motor -as I need to make a tank
to replace this do i have the lines running at the same height in and
out of the of the tank(or in higher/lower??) and what is it intended
to do?

You'll have one torquey go cart that's for sure!

Yes, the XT and the XR 400s use their frames as an oil tank. Can't
really do this frame supplied oil with a go-cart.

No need to re-invent the wheel; What I'd do is take a look at some
chopper catalogs and find an oil tank there as most harleys have
separate
sumps. Many different sizes and shapes. You could even get one shaped
like a keg! ;-)
