Vento Motorcycles

Only a view things out of the ordinary at our annual show. The
Kawai/Triumph/BMW dealer had NO Triumphs on display. The Yamaha dealer
for the second time had a FJR1300. There was no new Concours or ST1300 to
do an eyeball comparison though. No new Urals either (the one on display
looked like it was original WWII) other than the one entered into
competition by its owner. Sue went gaga over the trikes and sidecars per
usual.

I had a nice talk with a Harley rep from Soldotna about salmon, the price
of gas, Alaska being crowded, and bikes.

One other new thing, the Vento Thunder -
Although physically it appeared to be a full sized cruiser, it's 390 pound
250cc 2-cylinder with a max hp of 24 at 8000rpm. The gob of torque can be
found at 6000. On of the fellows selling raffle tickets for it told me it
was Chinese but I see they have a plant in Texas so at least it's partly
assembled here.

Good point, and any forum is going to have its share of people
complaining about the given brand. Generally those are the people most
inclined to seek out a forum.

However I poked around a bit more and found one thread with dealers
complaining about the company, which I found kind of unusual.

I've been browsing hotels lately and found one with two reviews. Review
#1 gave it one star, saying the place was a prison with lousy staff and
that a person should stay anywhere else but there. Review #2 gave it four
stars (out of five), saying the room was good, location convenient, staff
OK.

Yes, Vento's own website implied there were past issues, explaining they
built the US plant with the intent of improving quality control. Like any
new venture, there are always bugs
