Black Hills on Memorial Day Weekend, Anyone?

Black Hills on Memorial Day Weekend, Anyone?

I may travel to the Black Hills for Memorial Day Weekend. It has
been pointed out that the open trails there may not be open by 2009,
and I need to go this year if I intend to experience them.

Anyone wanting to have a fun ride is welcome to join in.

Boy, I'd like to ride with you but being so close to the Ooootah ride, I
don't think I could swing the $$$s to do it.

However, I'd love to hop on the street bike and take a spirited ride up
there just to enjoy the fellowship for an evening. I'm within a day's ride
strike radius and I could even stop by Carhenge on the way to or fro (I've
always wanted to lay eyes on it).

If I could both figure out how to hook up with where you're camped and how
to have you feed me a bit of dinner and a few beers for a lightweight
traveler, I'd do it.

That would be great!

I spoke with Jeff Neathery a couple of days ago. He called and said
that he had heard about my trip. He and Brian Jahelka will be there
by Saturday afternoon, and after they leave on Monday or Tuesday, will
be heading west toward Idaho for the Two Day Qualifier the next
weekend.
He was wondering about places to ride between the Black Hills and
Idaho. I suggested stopping in your area and riding Colorado or maybe
Wyoming trails that I have heard Mr Deeney speak of.

I would thoroughly enjoy getting to visit with you, even if we
couldn't ride together. I'll facilitate communications and beverage
acquisition for such a meeting in SD.

Anyway, if you have my email, shoot me one with your cell number
included, and I will reply with my cell phone or an email with my cell
number. (Or, just get it from Chris, and call me.)

I'll be out of pocket for most of the weekend. My son Gabe (and
possibly son Brandon) , MXPhlipper, and I will be riding Bear Creek on
Saturday and (possibly at TrainRobbers, since it is only 40 miles
east) Sunday. I'll be back around Sunday night, unless I get
distracted. <VBG>

We rode with Jeff in Wyoming a few years ago on his way thru.

This year, memorial day is far too early for any meaningful trails to be
open. If they are clear of snow, they will be blocked by fallen trees.

I turn 50 this memorial day weekend. If it weren't for my daughters high
school graduation, I'd be loading up camping gear & provisions & heading for
SD. How many days are you going to be there? Once there, I could toss off
the saddle bags and join you for a ride.

Jeff,
I don't really know, but figure we will probably stay until Monday
or Tuesday, and maybe longer. It depends on how much time my
traveling companions have available.
