It's raining

and I just sent an email to a riding buddy confirming wether he's
going to ride sunday. yes, he is, and asked if he'll have trouble
riding with those crappy metzeler enduro3 dual sport tire.

uhhh, methinks I'll laugh, sweat and swear a lot next sunday... =:-)
hope does not rain enough to produce quicksand.

Its raining here, too.

My riding is more determined on whether the in-laws will be here this
weekend, or not.

I wonder if those tires are sold in the US- just so I know to avoid
them.

you mean, if they come, you go riding? :-)

sure they are:
* w w w .mawonline . com /newsite/street-tires wheels-metzeler-metzeler sahara 3 enduro tires.htm

they are good on pavement. I could scrap the footpegs on some turns
with those on my XR250 (came stock with them), but they don't worth
shit on the dirt. If it is dry and hard packed, they are more or less
ok, but add a little water and say bye bye to traction.

Yeah, I wouldn't try a tire that looked like that unless I was just
looking to ride dry dirt roads.

No, if they are coming I need to help clean everything and play host.

Isn't that what Tami wants instead of a flat track tire?

this might be even better

* w w w .metzelermoto . com /web/catalog/moto/moto catalogo schedaDescription.page?categoria=/catalog/moto/off road/enduro on off&vehicleType=MOTO&product id=145710&uri=/metzeler/en IT/browser/xml/catalog/moto/OffRoad Karoo.xml&menu item=/products/catalog/off road

what puzzles me is why a company big like metzeler puts the enduro 3
on the off road catalogue. I, having used this tire, consider this
disrespectful, to say the least. Perhaps the joke wasn't good enough
carving "enduro" and "sahara" on the side of the tire...

now, from all tires I've used, this is by far the best of them all:

This is my favorite-
* w w w .mandhtires . com /sc images/products/276 large image.gif

They started making it in china and messed up the formulation so I
stopped using it.
I hear its better now, may use it again.

What I *want* is full-on knobbies. But like my mom used to tell me,
"Shit in one hand and want in the other and see which one fills up
first."
I'll probably end up with something like the Avon Distanzias.

What? A tire that "makes everything possible?" Hell yeah that's what I
want!
I'm gonna be a 5'10" World Champion as soon as the UPS man gets here!

Too bad they won't fit my super-wide 17" rims...

Have fun on your ride, Tiago. I'll be going to Santa Cruz this
weekend, and it's supposed to be sunny and in the 80's.

Dear Tami,

I have a 17" Metzler up in my overhead that will fit. The knobs are worn to
about 1/4 to 1/8" in the middle. I'd have to look at it for the exact name,
it was something like rallye cross and isn't made anymore and wasn't dot
legal. You may have noticed it on my XL600R. If it sinks into the soft
stuff, the outside knobs come into play. You will never get stuck. Really.
It also has very stiff sidewalls.

I'm not that "versitile" with tire irons and it shows, but the tire is
yours.

Really? I can have it? Cool! Will it fit my 3.5" front rim or the
4.25" rear rim? Will you accept payment in beer? We will be in Santa
Cruz, Los Gatos and San Jose tomorrow. Can we come get it? Drop me an
e-mail and I'll give you our cell #'s.

Tami-

Tami,

This might work! I'll be at Los 408 Gatos 829 High 9084 School by 1:00pm
and stay to about 4:00pm playing grass volleyball. I'll toss the tire in
the bed of my red extended cab Toyota PU. We play in the field past the
tennis courts.

My cell is embedded in the above. I have a Dunlop MT-21 on it now, but the
manual specs the rear as 5.10-17-4PR.

Somewhere around here I have the receipt which allows for the disposal at
Road Rider in San Jose.

Tami,

You may not see this in time, but it is a unicross 130 90 17 Metzeler.
