"199 Lives" Travis Pastrana

If you are a Travis fan, or just like to watch the
crazy antics of one VERY talented, and lucky, man.
This is a no miss movie.
It is being shown in selected theaters for two nights
only. Last night, April 16th and tonight April 17.
The GF and I went to see it last night and I am still
in awe of the things this man has accomplished in
his life.
The movie is sort of a documentary about his growing
up. Starting to ride a motorcycle as a 4 year old. His
early racing career and progressing through his years
as the champion of the X-Games.
It has lots of interviews from his family and friends. Along
with some humorous moments from Travis himself.
I highly recommend anyone that likes dirt bikes, racing
and seeing talented people perform wild death defying
stunts, to go see this movie.
I can't wait to see if this one comes out in DVD. It will be
in my small collection for sure.
Cheers, SloCalSpode

Re: "199 Lives" Travis Pastrana

I was at Glen Helen to watch the big national race one year with my
kid. We were walking through the staging area before a practice
session and Travis was sitting on his bike waiting with everyone else.
My son walked up to his side facing backwards wanting me to get his
picture with his number on his back showing. We switched places for my
picture and Travis looked over at me and shook my hand. I wis
impressed with his out going attitude and wished him well. He is
indeed a fine athelete. OF

Fuck! I made plans to see that this week with the youngster.
Worked on his truck last night and he's working tonight.
Completely forgot about it.

Oh well.

Yep, the man is incredible. Best of all, he doesn't have the sad
attitude of James Steward and doesn't sound like a billboard like
Carmichael - yet he is every bit as fast as them on a sx track.

I don't think we get this movie in the theaters, so it shames me to
say that I may end up d/ling it online instead.

He used to have a half hour show on CMT, mostly featuring stunts. I
only caught one. Don't recall what it's called but since I'm allergic
to country music and anything that sounds like a cat being tortured, I
don't tend to tune to that godawful station often enough to catch it.
Hmm, maybe it's available for d/l somewhere?

Wow!
That was a bit different than I had imagined. If anything, it leaves
me even more in awe of that kid's twisted drive and determination. The
section on Travis's night terrors was kinda surprising. I also didn't
realize how sick he was the last year that he was racing, he was quite
a mess and still had that huge grin pasted on his mug most of the
season.
While I would be very hesistant to tell my kid "Be more like Travis",
I know very few people that coldn't learn something from the kid about
attitude and determination.
I loved the interview with Robert near the end when he says "Travis is
the best th ing that's ever happened to me, and I'm going to miss him
when he kills himself", then laughs. I can't imagine the rollercoaster
ride his parents have been through over the years.
Good documentary/biography. It'll definitely join our video collection
when it's released.

Those Pastrana's are a bunch of crazy MF'ers. Travis may be the most
ordinary one of the bunch.

Re: "199 Lives" Travis Pastrana

I kind of thought ya'all would like it. I know I sure did.
An insparation to us all about determination and
comming back from adversity.
Just goes to show that you don't have to be all Tat'ed
out with piercings to be one tough SOB.
Who ever finds it out on DVD first. Let us know.
Thanks, Jeff
