felt like Scrape for a second there...

Walking one of the girls to the schoolbus this morning, I was attcked by a
neighbor's puggle (cross between a beagle and a pug). No injuries. I had
both hands in my jacket pockets. And the dog lunged forwards on its leash
and latched onto the front of my sweatshirt which was hanging out of the
zipped jacket. I'm glad it didn't latch on a little lower. The owner pulled
it off but it was holding on tight.

Walking back, I wondered why I didn't just punch the dog in the side of it's
head.

I hope that wound is healing well, Scrape.

Antifreeze. I'll bring some.

I've thought of that in my case, but I'm going to get a lot more
out of watching Mrs. Dog Owner have to have it killed because no
one will insure her anymore. She doesn't know this is coming yet.

I had a friend that went through attack dog training in the Air
Force. You're taught to feed the dog that's attacking you your
forearm. Once it latches on, choke the shit out of it until it
passes out. Then kill it or be on your way. You've got about 30
seconds. Clear heads prevail.

I think I'd have drop kicked the puggle.

Been a dog fan for the past 50+ years, but I look at some of them
a little differently now.

It's decreased in size quite measureably for the past three weeks.
I skip my weekly visit for the first time next week and he's
suggested that the following week may be my last visit. After 2.5
months, it can now be mostly covered with an object about the size
of a nickel.

I'm going to stick with "well". I gave up on "quickly" about 7 or 8
weeks ago, but thanks. A pile. Seriously.

I've always tried to teach John that "good" is better than "fast".
Fast just happens. Guess it applies to more than what I was talking
about.

Actually, you are supposed to jam your fist down it's throat. You'll
get your forearm chewed, but you'll eventually kill the dog if you
keep at it. Thats for big dogs. Small dogs can just be picked up and
smashed into the ground then stomped into a puddle. For a dog in the
middle, your best bet is to jump on top of it, then just beat it to
death. To many people forget that they outweigh a dog, generally by a
lot.

I generally hate dogs, but they're not too bad if you use a decent
barbeque sauce.

I'll agree that I may have misunderstood. The phrase he used was
"feed it your forearm". I just imagined he meant horizontal as
opposed to vertical. Seems like your aim would have to be a lot mo'
better that way though and you'd take teeth all along the length of
your arm as opposed to the punctures. Gonna take some pondering.

I keep a 20# sledge hammer near my front door for neighborhood dogs
these days. And, yes, I can come around with that fucker fast enough
to damage the dog and win.

Charcoal or George Foreman grill? I don't do gas grills.

I rarely do the charcoal thing any more. It just takes to long. My
gas grill is well seasoned and came with me to the last Idaho
Spodefest I attended. I affixed new graphics to it before the trip.
Basically, I plastered it with decals from the different products I
purchased or was given. It has a hot spot that is constant and I use
it to my advantage. Anyway, I think I need a smoker so it can relate
to the 2-strokes in the garage.

I appreciate the convenience, I just got good with charcoal and am
too old to learn something new.

Baxter BBQ's a seriously good steak. Add that to Tracy's twice-baked
potatoes and, well, Eric and I are pretty much in culinary heaven.
The company ain't half-bad, either.

Glad to hear you're on the mend with no extra added drama on top.

I've been in NC long enough to know that barbecue is a noun.
Apparently, this is even alluded to in Oakland:
http :// eastbay.citysearch,com /profile/1015803/

and:

http :// www .trianglearearealestate.info/North_Carolina/page_583326.html

"Perhaps North Carolina's finest contribution to international
cuisine, the peculiar institution known as Barbecue is one of
those Tarheel hotspots that is often misunderstood by folks
outside our borders. Barbecue enjoys a long and distinguished
history in North Carolina, and has come to be synonymous with
political campaigns, church fund-raisers, and any celebration of
merit. In NC barbecue is a noun not a verb! It has been
celebrated itself in song, story, poetry, literature and
electronic media. It enjoys as much a prominent place and regional
distinctiveness as a 'state dish' as Steamed Crabs do in Maryland,
Baked Beans do in Boston, and Salmon does in Seattle. Barbecuing
is so competitive in North Carolina that the state boasts no fewer
than twenty five annual cook-offs.

"There are two different styles of North Carolina Barbecue,
Eastern and Western. In both cases the sauce is a vinegar-based
concoction, heavily seasoned; the largest difference is that the
Western, or Lexington style of barbecue adds a small amount of
tomato-base to the sauce, and also roasts pork shoulders in
preference to the whole hog. That's it. That's the difference. Yet
these tiny differences have caused near blood feuds between
proponents of the two different styles." - Terry Mancour.

(Sorry, pet peeve...)
(and I just noticed that the above writer even used it as a verb.)

I'm sure he *grills* a seriously good steak. I might be up for a
cook off if this freaking Powerball thing works out properly
tonight.

>Glad to hear you're on the mend with no extra added drama on top.

Drama on its way. I'll keep it to myself though.

That's no fun, at least give us a tidbit or two along the way. Unless
it's going to damage the...drama.

Amen to that! BBQ (the noun) in the making looks a little something like
this....

http :// i208.photobucket,com /albums/bb58/warrenmountain/PigParts.jpg

Gettin the smoker up to temp with royal oak prior to the actual 12 hour
low-n-slow smoke with Hickory chunks.

If the pig is appropriately smoke-infused, sauce is purely optional. :-)
