Thanks Wuds, Deeney & Craig!

Received a copy of "Gathering Speed - Tales of Motorcyles and Life"
in the mail yesterday from Wuds, Deeney & Craig (I hear they're living
together now).

I have only read the forward thus far, but it sounds interesting
and I can't wait to delve into the book in earnest. Thanks, guys!
Ya'll rock! (I don't care what Dave says about you).

Funny little story about that book. A few years ago Deeney and I were
emailing about something or the other and I brought up that book,
asking him if he'd read it. As it turned out, he was in the middle of
doing some welding for the author when I asked. Flash was a cow-orker
of his for years. Small world.

I've known Flash from the rec.motorycle daze, 20 years ago. 12 years ago he
moved to town & started work at HP.

Fred, hope you enjoy the book.

"Fartsniffer" indeed. I'm still assuming that was the drugs talking. :-)

"Flash" is good guy. I've been trying to get him into dirt riding for some
time but to no avail ... well, maybe 'sorta. I think one of the stories
describes me dragging his gut-shot BMW GS out of the hills west of here with
my groaning and straining XR 250 after a downside waterbar landing on a rock
took out a fist sized hole in the sump casing. Good thing most of it was
with gravity at our backs.

The Blue Light Special involved a tale from a rally in Durango we rode to
some years back featuring a couple of Kalifornia biker scum highway patrol
disability judges that got away with all kinds of foolery cuz no cop would
dare write them up lest he be standing before them some day.

The pic at the bottom of:

http :// www .deathstar.org/~flash/gsindex.html

is that same GS gettin' some air at the Pawnee National Grasslands winter
riding area. Man, I could feel seismics when he re-established contact with
terra firma on that beast.

Good BMW thrasin' to ya,
VLJ
