dummy up;)

I did not mention it but about the time CTD had his BMX disaster I
also had a little scrape up. I got on my kids little motorcycle and
started screwing around in the back yard. Of course I took a crapper
and the peg slammed my ankle. I am 50 so my first thought was oh crap,
there goes my summer as I really don't heal like I used to. But I got
up and walked around, went inside and put on the ice pack. After two
weeks the swelling did not really go down so today I went to the doc.
Nothing broke, just really smacked it and tendons don't heal as fast
as muscle but I am not going to lose my summer and break my bank with
surgery. I am not insured for that kind of stuff, so I got lucky this
time.

My little one had her first Nervous Novice run last weekend at
Middletown Motorcycle club (pics to follow) and this weekend she will
be in her first pee wee race. She really loved it and I think she is
really going to take to racing bikes, she loves the competition and is
a pretty good athlete, her other sport is cross country racing at
school so she already has a racing mentality. She has never won a
race, sometimes she even comes in near the back of the pack, but she
goes into each and every race thinking if she just tries a little
harder, she can win this time... gotta' love it.

Won't be able to ride with her quite yet, not getting on again without
helmet, goggles, chest protector, and boots, minimum. I got lucky
once, don't need another lesson in dumb... But if anyone is going to
the NETRA race in Brimfield Mass Saturday, look for the long haired
hippie, with the black leather outback hat, packin' a six string...
that will be me;)

Wish us luck, like I said, I will try to post pics later..

Heal well Fred...

Just Wait.. RM racin' ;)

Ouch. Quit it.

Good luck!

It's been a week and a half. My hand/wrist is actually feeling
better. I mean, I won't be riding any time soon, but I can use the
right hand a little now. No real pressure or anything, like pulling
the truck door shut with it, but I can lift a frosty beverage :-)

The clavicle, on the other hand, is starting to piss me off.

>Just Wait.. RM racin' ;)

Yeah, I should be fully healed just in time for 110-degree
weekends. Oh joy! LOL.

Take it easy, man, and get that safety gear! (I always wear mine
except when BMXing ;-)

Got an ETA? I was getting ready to call RahRah and see if he's
got one yet.

I wish. Maybe if the lotto thing works out or my mother-in-law
suddenly takes a turn for the worse...

That's what got to me. I can't get the image of that xray you posted
out of my head. I am not getting on without gear, not even for a
"quick ride". Just not worth it.

But it's just a tiny little bike, what could happen? This one has the
17 inch tires and a 110 cc engine. I am not sure how it is geared but
it can really get out from under you quickly.

That's the short wheelbase. 60s, 80s and 110s will dump an unwary
adult on his ass in a heartbeat ;-p

Well, call me "unwary" then..

tomorrow after the race.. Here we go. Locked and loaded and I am
bringing my camera again;)

I'm reluctant to upgrade my stock XR650L pegs because the stockers
look like they'll cause a lot less damage to my ankles. If I biffed
rarely I wouldn't worry about it much, but I seem to do at least a
downhill faceplant (damn hidden greasy logs) at least once per outing.

Heal well-

Dave

Hee hee. Those things are death on a stick if you ask me. A couple
of months ago, while doing to "extra-batch-o-coolness" mods to my
XR50, I took it for a quick spin at about 11:30pm to check out the
carb settings. It had no plastic or seat, so I was standing.
Naturally, my driveway at the time had a solid 4" of ice and crud on
it, so (as one would assume) I ended up biffing my brains out after
about 30 seconds after locking up the front end and washing out - the
new disk break up front is a little more touchy than the old drum.
While performing a beautiful body-splat maneuver, I took a footpeg to
the shin, which quickly felt like a battleground amputation. Took
forever to heal up.
