Places to ride dual sport in SW Connecticut

Hi all,

I'm getting my bike shipped in from Dallas Texas and I'll be ready to
ride this weekend, Yahoo!!!

I'm in the Easton/Redding area and wondering where there are some nice
places to ride either on or off road.

Thanks in advance

Dave

Hmmm, I can help if you get near Southington, Meriden, etc...

As a matter of fact, I think I know the only place where you can see
the LI sound and Hartford from the same trail, if not the same place.

Hey, where do you ride out there. I am closer to Hartford but can
trailer out if need be. In another lifetime I used to run a tow truck
in Southington, pulled a few 4x4s out from behind Southington
Mountain. Can you still drop in back there??

Um. yes. That's pretty close to Mount Misery.

Look for Valley Road in Redding. There's a nice dirt stretch through some
cool wetlands there and I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few trails.
Be careful though. The water company rangers are wearing guns. Keep heading
north up into Poverty Hollow in Newtown maybe. Just explore around and keep
your eyes peeled for a trail here or there. One never knows. There's a lot
of good stuff in both of those towns and it's just a question of finding the
spots where nobody gets bothered. Then you'll have some very fine riding.

There's some other stuff but I'll have to show you in person. If I ever make
time to ride...

I'll think of some other stuff...

Your best bet is to hook up with Deano! I used to ride in that area
but I gave it up as it is a lot of goat trails, hard for me to get up
outta 3rd gear and a lot of law enforcement. Dean has a friend with a
dynomite hookup there as his backyard leads into the "trail system".
And Deano knows that trail system cold.

Welcome to CT - one of the most off-road unfriendly states in the
union.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.
At least the roads will be a little more fun than the flat straight
roads in north Texas.
We did have a couple of pretty good riding places down there that were
open to bikes and ATVs.
