ROPES! Those candy-asses had ROPES!
I really liked that movie. They made it look as hard as nasty stuff
like that always felt. No, nothing like the river crossings, but I've
been places where I would have felt a lot comfier with a nice rope to grab.
And there were GIRLS!

The next time someone whines about one of my rides, I'm going to show them
this video. This thing made LMS look like the kiddy track.

While I am not saying that someone on a ride with me won't ever get
into similar situations, I can guarantee you that I'll never make the
primary loops of one of my Wudi Rides on those trails. (I'm getting
lazy in my old age.)

Several of the US riders to the Spanish ISDE spoke of rugged dusty
mountainous country and thousands of steep stair-steps that they had
to negotiate. Wild.
Tom Tarver, the Breezy Hills club President, started riding enduros
while in the military in Panama. He and a team-mate, riding Triumphs,
used the buddy system and ropes to get up 10' vertical cliffs and
across quicksand bogs.
