428 chain - what uses it?

I was shopping for a CR80 chain/sprocket, and was suprised to see that
they use a 420 chain size, which I assume is the same as all of the
little play bikes, all the way down to an XR50. What bikes use a 428
chain?

Besides XR100 and '74 CR125, the two I own, I'm not sure.
I think 428 is the same as 420 with a bigger roller for slightly
higher load capability.

Go fast. Take chances.

I think my '82 XR200 (non 200R) and 84 XL200R bikes used a 520,
though.

Mine used a 520, but it was actually a NX200. The XR200R of the same
era used 520s too, but you guys never saw one of them "live", so it
doesn't matter.

The newish Yamaha XTZ have 428 and the 520 conversion kit is becoming
popular.

You're right.
The XR185 used 428, the XR200 went to 520.

All RM80's and 85's use 428. As cheap as it is, buy the best 420 you can
find. RK GB420MXZ comes to mind.

Thanks guys - I found a listing and oddly enough, the 420 and 428
seems to be used interchangably, at least in terms of loading and
engine size. Honda uses the 420 for just about everything small
except the XR100 (including the CRF150 - so much for increased load).
Turns out my TTR125 uses a 428. Most of the older (70's vintage)
small bikes use that size, so maybe it's continued use is just an
artifact of an older technology.
