That's what giant Channel Locks are for. I got a very large pair
for just this sort of instance. Sometimes I still have to break the
line though. But re-bleeding isn't usually that big a deal.

In that case, I'll be your somewhat riding buddy, one of these years :)

This triggered a repressed memory involving an earlier generation XR rear
hub bearing job and a notorious butter soft aluminum bearing carrier when I
shredded the already compromised threads. The fix was more of a 4 week
episode that consisted of shipping off the hub to have a stainless steel
sleeve pressed in and new threads cut. The machinists did an outstanding
job and the finished work was superior to the OEM design. Such is the bane
of the anal-retentive where once something is known to be just not right,
there is no stopping until it is ...

Good maintenance to ya,

Hi!

Never happened for me, always finished the job right on time.

Except when I dropped the camshaft retainer clip of a friend's YZ450 right
into the gearbox. Yeah, and there was the incident, where I had to move a
KTM 620 that had its front brake caliper dangling from the hose
(maintenance job) and accidentally grabbed the brake lever and the pistons
plopped out. Occasionally, I start an oil change on sunday, drained
everything, pulled the filter(s) - only to find out that I had no
replacement. Neither oil, nor filters. Recently, I ordered KTM main jet
plus needle and nozzle/emulsifier tube. After buying new stuff, I threw the
worn parts into the garbage. Later, I learned that
a) you can get a size 80 main jet even if you order size 192
b) finding main jets, needles & stuff in 1m^3 of garbage is no easy thing
to do. I used grip glue and had rubbers that stuck to the throttle tub so
well, that they froze after the first 3cm. Trying to remove them with all
kinds of tools ended in destruction of the throttle tube. Cost me (and
Venhill) three weeks to get a spare. 2 weeks because Venhill wrote "17" as
my street number and not "18" and postal service sent the parcel back to
England. I had exploding tubes after changing trailer tires (and not having
replacements) and spokes that went to the "point of no return" after trying
to loosen them with vice grips.

But apart from that, I always keep my ETAs. Really. At least this was the
case 20 years ago - before I went into IT and motorcycle business.

Cheers,
Volker
