Cuba stamping US passports?

Cuba stamping US passports?

The used to put a generic stamp on pg. 16 of US passports, while the
official Cuba stamp went on the travel card. Are they still doing
that?

What I've heard is that the official stamp is being placed in the
passport. If so, it would seem to be a left-handed step towards
normalization of relations with the US. Another way of looking at it
is, if enough US citizens get pinched for spending money in Cuba they'll
holler to their congress representatives then the embargo will be
lifted. Some might call it an indirect form of extortion.
