Non-AI in Playa de Carmen or around

Non-AI in Playa de Carmen or around

Will be flying in Sept. to meet a friend who is coming to stay at of
the Gran Bahia Principe resorts. Myself, I'd like to stay in a non-AI
place nearby. Any recommendations?

All of the AI Resorts with the exception of Gran Porto Real and it's
sister Royal Porto Real are located in a sub-division called Playacar.
Some are listed as Rivera Maya when they are actually in Cancun's Zona
Hotel. A very good discussion forum for Playa and Playacar is

The board is hosted by two expatriates who live in Playa del Carmen so
they and some of the forum moderators who live in Playa or nearby towns,
have their virtual fingers on the pulse of Playa.
