Wednesday RideAfter having had to spend the morning with the wife and her Dr. got home and
rolled Louise out of the garage. Checked her out to make sure she was really
ready, lights, fluids, tires etc.... Rode from Demotte, In. to Kersting
H-D, just south of North Judson, Indiana. about 35 mi. one way. Trip there
was on mostly county roads until they turned to gravel and switched to state
highway after that. Beautiful sunny weather, temperatures mid 60s, but
windy gusty up to 25+ MPH, and of course crosswind for most of the direction
I was going. Kersting H-D has a motorcyle mueseum that I spent sometime
gawking at bikes from 1910 to near present. Also looked in their showroom
but not really tempted, prefer my shovel. The focus there was on Harleys but
other bikes and automobiles are represented there also. They do allow
cameras, but mine decided to have dead batteries, I had hoped to have pics
for the bianary across the way... Ride back was mostly on state highways,
but traffic was very light today in both directions. Very interesting were
two servi-cars. One had the shift on the left side of the fuel tank, and the
other on the right side. Also A H-D from WW II era with throttle on the
left (so you can shoot with your right hand) and an opposed rather than a V
engine.
