First, it's been a long day at the grind, so a round of drinks on me.
If you remember my drivel from last winter ('06-'07), I had a problem with
rocker gaskets blowing on the Evo FXR, which led to some investigation and
discovery that the umbrella valves were in the down hill side of the covers,
not the uphill side. Also, that the breather hose that's being fed down
below and out by the rear wheel was getting emulsified oil goop jamming it
up. Added together, I had gasket troubles.
Well, I blew a rocker gasket the other day on a missed shift that got me up
to the rev limiter. I figured I just over revved it when it wasn't yet
warmed all the way up, and so I went ahead and replaced the gasket. Next
ride out, blew the gasket again. Dammnit.
So in my disgust I started looking for better gaskets, thinking Cometic and
James, when all of a sudden, sitting there on my ass loafing in front of the
PC in my office at work, I remembered. Damn, breather hose is prolly all
gummed up again.
Just got home from work, had a beer and waited for things to cool off a bit.
Ran my home made hangar and rope snake through that hose and sure as shit, a
whole lotta gurgle, a swoosh, and a plop of white goop hits the floor.
Yeah, I'm admitting it.
Reminds me of the time I couldn't start my new the previous season lawn
mower. Pulled harder than hell. After disassembling the pull starter, I was
reminded that it had a safety kill brake inside.... Duh... I was neglecting
to pull up on the safety bar when pulling on the rope.
That's two admissions of stupidity in one post. Time to shutup and drink.
