Oil Leak

My Panhead keeps sumping. I have put a new S&S oil pump on it but it
still does it. I would like to put a shut off valve on the feed line
but cant seem to find one that will work. Does anybody know where I
can order one on line?

I got the popcorn ... oh hell , that's mean .
It's sumping because the check ball in the oil pump is not sealing .
There are two slotted screw heads on the pump . Tall one is for the relief
valve assy , short one behind it has the check ball and spring underneath .
That ball is what's supposed to keep the oil from running into the motor
when it's not running . It ain't ... do a google search of this ng for
"leaking ball check valve" for more than you ever wanted to know .
Now , haul yourself over to www .rmhfaq, com and read up on this newsgroup .
It ain't just an internet cartoon .
I'll get this round , but only cuz you ride a Pan ...

Far as I know, th' only way it can do that is if there's a little
piece of <whatever> between th' check ball and th' seat. It doesn't
take much. It's pretty easy to check and clean.

Installing a petcock in line seems like askin' fer trouble, expensive
trouble. I wouldn't do it, but I don't see why ya couldn't find a
petcock with th' correct ID. Perhaps a Pingle?

Do you have an oil filter on that bike? If not, methinks that's
what's causin' it.
