Local Indy recommendation

A round of whatever you're having on me.

I live on the MA/NH border and need a good mechanic to do a keensert
job on an Evo cylinder stud crankcase hole.

Recommendations appreciated greatly. As you all know by now, I'm fresh
back into motorcycling as of November 2006. Between family and work, I
don't know enough biker folks yet to have a clue where to turn. I can
pull the motor and break it down myself, but I'm not gonna risk
pooching the keensert installation. I understand you only get one shot
at it, and then you're into welding, filling, and retapping expense.

Haven't gotten a quote from the local HD dealer yet, but I expect
they're gonna be closer to an arm and a leg than an indy shop, and
money is tight.

Thanks,
Steve

I've been using an indy for about six years. He was formally an excellent
wrench with a H-D dealer with a supervisor and some quality control. Now he
is a one man shop with all the interruptions. I've had to return each time
the last couple of years. Recently took the trike in to the dealer and they
corrected two problems that had been going on at a decent price. You get
what you pay for.

No more independents for me. With a dealer problem you can always escalate.

Good luck.

I hear that.

I really just need someone with machine skills to do the keensert.
(Maybe do all 8 for piece of mind.)

I'm pulling the motor and tearing it down to the cases myself.
Starting tomorrow.

Finding myself more and more house poor with each passing year as
salary remains flat and taxes (and everything else) goes up, I've got
as near a zero bike budget as a man can stand. I'd rather buy tools
than labor, with whatever I can scrape together by denying myself
other wants.

Besides, I don't mind going to mechanic school on my own scoot. Those
are skills I intend/expect to use later on. I really do want to build
my own bike. Something like the one I posted in the Build Your Own
Virtual Bike thread across the street.
