The magnetic pull is strong right now...
The Maytag engine(s) just showed up this evening, better than cheap, one
is for parts, the other for Slug Bike II. Good compression, just needs a
carb and spark plug and could probably fire it up.
Rewind to when I was building the original Slug Bike. Some guy stopped
by and wanted to talk bikes. He got a kick out of the Slug Bike. I'd
told him at that time that I really wanted a kick start Maytag. It took
close to 3 years, but he found a couple at a farm auction and bought the
pair for $125.
He stopped by last night and looked at some projects I have in storage,
came back today with the offer of the 2 Maytags and $50 for the '72
Suzuki 500 2 stroke. The engines are in my garage, cash bought a tank of
fuel for the Nova and about 3/4 of dinner. Not a bad deal for a bike
that was thrown in on a deal on the Fiat. <G>

Yeah, still have a job. The commute is a rough one, we have 3 shops... I
usually have to visit 2 of them. My office is in the closest one, 1 1/2
miles from home. The main shop and office are 4 miles away, and the old
shop we're moving out of is 9 miles away.
I'm lucky to get a couple of hours in the evening to work in the garage.
Weekends are usually when I can get things done. I had plans to swap the
front suspension on the Baja this evening, but tornado sirens kept me
inside the house. Luckily, they stayed several miles from us.

Yeah, still have a job. The commute is a rough one, we have 3 shops... I

I'll upload pics of the "new" engines later. Pretty cool that the engine
that I'll use is the first year for that type.

Just updated the info on pics of the engine without the kicker. It looks
like it's a 1926 or 1927 Model 82, also 3/4 hp.

Just updated the info on pics of the engine without the kicker. It looks
like it's a 1926 or 1927 Model 82, also 3/4 hp.
