An overnight fire has destroyed a motorcycle shop near Pipestone,
Minnesota. Outlaw Customs builds and sells custom bikes for people all
across the nation.
A charred mess is what's left of Outlaw Customs motorcycle shop near
Pipestone.
"Building was separated into two halves. There was the storage on one
half and Outlaw Customs Motorcycles on the other half, on the east end
of the building," Pipestone's Fire Chief Mark Otter said.
Flames were shooting out of that end when firefighters arrived around
midnight last night. Otter says they worked in freezing temperatures and
strong winds to put the fire out.
"It was cold. It was cold. Very fatiguing for the firefighters, that's
for sure," Otter said.
In an attempt to save a business that makes and sells expensive custom
bikes to people all across the United States.
"Quite a bit of dollar loss here. He built custom motorcycles and the
custom motorcycles vary in price range, but they can be up to $50,000 or
more so," Otter said.
Otter says 13 custom bikes and Harleys were destroyed in the fire, but
three semi trucks and three pickups that were inside the building were
saved.
"We had another motorcycle on the west end with the trucks, sitting in
there. We got the trucks out and the motorcycle out," Otter said.
But damage to the building is enough to put a stop to this business at
least for awhile.
"Hopefully in time, he'll rebuild and get started back again," Otter said.
The state fire marshall is investigating the cause of the fire. At this
time, it does not seem suspicious.
