Rode an '08 Street Glide Yesterday

Pegged the throttle. Bike go zoom. Slammed the Brembo's. Bike stop.

Very nice. Very, very nice.

ABS or not?
What's even better is the 200+ range.
What's even worse is the reserve miles indicator.
I used to just get gas when the idiot light went on,,,
I can now go further than I've ever been able to go on a bike,
and with that damn mileage indicator, I feel the
need to take it down to single digits before I get gas.
Almost bit me twice now.

In the car, I actually took it to negative numbers.
Pauline did not think it was funny.

I hate those things. I don't have one on the bike, of course, but in
a car they will drive me to drink, wondering just how accurate they
are and watching them like a hawk. It's like the on the fly fuel
milage gizmo... takes my mind off driving trying to see how high I can
get the meter to go.

It's insidious.
And the fuckin' average miles per hour meter....
If it drops below 75, I've got to do 90 until it tracks back up....
I told a cop that once...
he laughed his ass off,
and gave me a ticket.

Fuckin' pencil neck geeks designing these things to fuck with us...

Not when you're in bum-fuck-south-dakota and you can stop and pee
anywhere but you needed another 40 miles worth in the tank to get to
that gas station without a power failure.

If you drink enough scotch, and also eat a lot of baked beans, you can
always piss-n-fart in the tank and let it burn for fuel.

No shit! There is allot of nothing up here in the Dakotas, and father west
where we ride. I would like to add a couple gallons of capacity to my Ultra.
Not that I want to ride that far, (the wife is usually begging for a pee
stop long before we need gas!), but some more reserve would be nice. I have
pulled into a gas station a few times and put 4.7 - 4.8 gallons in!

They make some nice spun aluminum fuel bottles for backpackers for
white gas or alchy. one or two of those would make a nice reserve. But
if your anything like me you'll push it farther knowing you have
reserve. [sfsf]

I have seen the bottles, but I don't want to pack more crap with!
I have seriously considered buying a used tank off EBay and cut it apart,
add some filler strips and blow it out to 7 gallons or so.

I don't think they would fit my Ultra!!
But the 1-1/2" per side would probably do it.

I tell ya what. The one thing I noticed on the '08 Street Glide was the
bulging tank tapping on m' knees a bit. Not enough to be a bother but
perhaps a slight nudge. Still worth the extra 1g.

I figure on pushing the front out a bit more than the rear, and save some
room for the knees.
I probably will not bother anyway, but it is tempting.
