When I worked the parts counter at Harley-Davidson of Glendale, CA I
took time to get the parts the customer needed. If it was an obsolete
part I would try to find it elsewhere. I remember a customer needed a
rear sprocket for his 1969 Servicar. I knew V-Twin carried them at
that time so I took his money and put it on the order list. The shop
sold a part, made the customer happy, and made money right? The owner
took me aside and told me, "You are spending too much time finding old
parts for old motorcycles. We sell new parts and accessories for new
motorcycles." Go figure.
