The broken finger/metacarpal doesn't always end up being the problem area after
the bones have healed. The fingers around it can have problems due to lack of
movement while in a cast/brace. Tendons atrophy and that can seriously affect your
grip. Plating and pinning can also be dangerous due to the risk of nerve damage, but
it'll get you out of a cast quicker.
