The gap recorded between Haga and Neukirchner in race 2 at Monza was only
0.009s, the third smallest ever in World Superbike, and equalling Assen
2007, when the same value was recorded between Bayliss and second-placed
Toseland.

The absolute record for World Superbikes is 0.005s and it was recorded three
times: race 1 at Monza 1997 between John Kocinski and Aaron Slight, at
Phillip Island 1999 between Corser and Fogarty and at Monza again that year
between Fogarty and Colin Edwards.

For the third straight year the average pole speed in Monza was beaten.
Bayliss improved the record set by Haga last year by 0.010s: 1m44.931s
versus 1m44.941s, taking the average record speed at Monza to 198.748 km/h.

In race 1 Max Neukirchner recorded the record speed for the Monza track over
race distance, winning at 195.223 km/h. The previous record was recorded by
Haga in 2007, in race 1 with 195.064 km/h. The absolute record for
Superbikes was set in Hockenheim 2000 race 1, when Bayliss won at a speed of
201.330 km/h.
